Guigang has a humid climate, with hot, rainy summers, so it is a good idea to bring rain gear when traveling.
Guigang is a relaxed city that combines natural scenery, history and culture, and local snacks, while overall costs are relatively friendly. The following 3-day, 2-night itinerary will help you get a fuller feel for the everyday life and scenery of the “Lotus City.”
3-Day, 2-Night Itinerary
- Day 1: The Old Charm of the Lotus City · First Taste of Local Culture
- Morning: Start at Nanshan Temple, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this ancient temple with a thousand-year history. You can also have a cup of Zen tea under the bodhi tree. The temple’s red walls and golden tiles set against the mountain surroundings make it a good place for traditional-style photos.
- Afternoon: Visit the Guigang Museum. Admission is free, but advance booking is required, and it is closed on Mondays. Inside, you can learn about the Luobowan Han Tomb and Bushan culture, giving you an initial understanding of Guigang’s history.
- Evening: Walk around Guigang Old Street and Dadong Wharf. In the evening, the river breeze blends with the lively atmosphere of the old arcade streets. Along the way, you can also try street snacks such as tofu pudding and pickled fruit and vegetables.
- Day 2: Healing Nature · Fresh Air in the Mountains
- Morning: Head to Pingtianshan National Forest Park and hike along the alpine meadows. The mountaintop offers open views, and when the weather is right, you may see a sea of clouds. It is also a good place to wait for sunset.
- Afternoon: Go cycling in Qingniu Valley, or visit Fairy Waterfall to enjoy the cool air among the forests and valleys.
- Evening: Go to the Old Street night market or Shenghuo Port for a late-night meal. You can try a snail and duck-foot hot pot and Juren old-style saltwater drinks, and experience the night dining scene of local Guigang residents.
- Day 3: Striking Mountains and Clear Waters · A Countryside Finish
- Morning: Visit Beidi Mountain Tourist Area. Known as the “Zhangjiajie of Guangxi,” it offers experiences such as a glass walkway and a suspended cliff walkway. The mountain forms and peak forest scenery along the way have a strong sense of depth.
- Afternoon: On the return trip, you can stop by Hemei Qintang. In summer, you can enjoy vast lotus fields and go boating among the lotus roots; outside the flowering season, you can view the ink-painting-like scenery of withered lotus plants and try an authentic all-lotus-root banquet.

Practical Travel Tips
- Transport: High-speed rail goes directly to Guigang Station. In the city, you can consider renting an electric scooter, about 25–30 yuan per day. For more distant suburban attractions such as Beidi Mountain and Longtan, carpooling or hiring a car is more suitable.
- Tickets: Many parks in Guigang are free to enter, such as East Lake and the Garden Expo Park. Nanshan Temple is about 20 yuan, and a Beidi Mountain combo ticket is about 120–130 yuan. You can buy tickets online in advance before your trip.
- Things to Note: Pingtianshan and Beidi Mountain have fairly noticeable temperature differences between morning and evening. It is recommended to bring a light jacket when going up the mountain and wear non-slip shoes. Guigang Museum is closed on Mondays, so avoid that day when planning your itinerary.
