Beitun is home to the headquarters of the 10th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. With its many lakes, it is known as the “City of a Hundred Lakes” and the “Pearl of the Irtysh River.” It is an important stopover on the way to scenic areas such as Kanas and Koktokay, and it also offers a chance to experience military reclamation culture, the scenery of the Irtysh River, and local food from northern Xinjiang.
