Where to Stay
- Xishuangbanna Gaozhuang Xishuangjing: This area has a high concentration of dining, leisure, and sightseeing options. It is close to Starlight Night Market and the Great Golden Pagoda, and it is also convenient to take taxis to other attractions. However, roads may be congested during peak season, and the area can be relatively noisy at night.
- Jinghong City Center, Xishuangbanna (near Water-Splashing Square/Manting Park): Accommodation prices are relatively affordable, and there are many small local shops nearby that residents often visit. The food has a more everyday local flavor, and access to the airport and high-speed rail station is also convenient. This area is suitable for travelers who prefer a quieter environment.
- Sunac Resort Area: Suitable for family trips with children or families who want to relax at the hotel. The hotels have complete facilities, including swimming pools and parent-child activities, and the overall environment is quiet. However, it is far from the city center, and food delivery options are relatively limited.

Transport and Travel Tips
- Long-distance transport: You can fly directly to Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport. A taxi from the airport to Gaozhuang costs about 25–35 yuan. Do not take vehicles soliciting passengers at the exit. If traveling by high-speed rail, buy a ticket to Xishuangbanna Station. After exiting the station, you can take a direct scenic-area shuttle bus to Gaozhuang for 20 yuan.
- Getting around the city: For short-distance trips, shared electric scooters can be a good first choice. Daily rental is about 30–40 yuan, and parking and moving around are more flexible. Before renting, take photos of the vehicle’s condition and confirm the battery range. For suburban attractions such as the botanical garden and Wild Elephant Valley, it is recommended to charter a car or take an official direct shuttle bus.
- Sun and mosquito protection: The local UV rays are strong, so prepare high-SPF sunscreen, sun-protective clothing, and a hat. When entering rainforest or grassy areas, it is recommended to carry mosquito repellent.
- Clothing notes: When entering Buddhist temples, do not wear clothing that exposes the shoulders or back, short skirts, or shorts. Flip-flops are also not appropriate. You can prepare a light jacket or a long skirt for coverage.
- Be cautious with low-price tours: Be careful with obviously low-priced products such as “99 yuan one-day tours.” These itineraries usually include many shopping stops, which may affect the travel experience.
- Buying fruit: You can go to Mange Fruit Wholesale Market to buy tropical fruit, and you can compare prices even when buying single pieces. It is not recommended to buy pre-cut fruit platters at night markets, as prices are higher and freshness is harder to judge.
